Sea To Sky Climbing is operated by Squamish climbers and residents: Peter Winter and Tom Wright. Originally the idea came from Squamish climber and route developer Peter Winter. Tired of the fragmented dissemination of new route information (Facebook, Instagram, Mountain Project, various other websites, emails, hand drawn topos, word of mouth etc), he pitched the idea of trying to coalesce all the info into one site. With his serious lack of website design and knowledge he asked Squamish local Tom Wright for help, who quickly jumped in. Then along came area mountain guide Evan Stevens who had past experience creating his own website for his guiding business and could help us with the same platform. So we had cheap, (i.e. free) labour, and we were off to the races.

This is a grassroots website. It’s purpose is to act as a central database for new route information - a place to come for the latest, freshly cleaned routes and topos for recently developed crags which anyone can access and use as they see fit. There is no copyright and no profit. We may accept a couple of ads to pay for the site, currently $400/year. We will do our best to gather new route info as it becomes available but we’ll rely on the route developers to forward us that information. However, we will NOT verify that information. We simply post the routes as described to us by the route developer. This is a DATABASE. That’s it.

The other purpose of this site is to draw attention to the Sea to Sky Route Development Fund - originally set up by in 2018. This fund is a major source of hardware for the route developers in the corridor. It has been a success so far but needs continued support. More donations to the fund, means more routes, it’s that simple.
